Back in June I started posting BibTeX files for major philosophy journals. Mark Kalderon’s GitBib is inspiring me to continue posting BibTeX files for the major philosophy journals. Here’s what I have so far.
- Australasian Journal of Philosophy (1998-2008)
- Mind (1975-2008)
- Nous (1997-2008)
- Philosophical Review (2000-2008)
- Philosophy and Phenomenological Research (1960-2008)
Zotero enabled me to create one for Journal of Philosophy (1985-2008) in just a few minutes! I’ll post that as soon as I get a chance to format the keys in Kbib.
These are useful not just as for helping manage citations and bibliographies in your papers, but they are also useful to quickly scan the major journals for interesting articles. It’s about the quickest method I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.
Hi Andrew,
how exactly did you use Zotero to create the BibTeX files, that is, on what input did you run it?
Hi Joachim,
You highlight all of the files. Right click on them. In the menu that pops up you select “Export Selected Items” – a menu pops up where you can choose the format. Select “BibTeX” and click “OK”
Hi Andrew,
actually, what I wanted to know was how I can use Zotero myself to create a BibTeX file for some philosophy journal. You say that you created one for the Journal of Philosophy in five minutes. How exactly did you do this? Where did you get the bibliographical data from? Thanks very much for your help!
Hi Joachim,
I did it with the Philosopher’s Index. Do a search that you know will bring up a citation with that journal as a source.
Go to the entry that has that journal article as a source.
Click on the Journal Title, and it should automatically do a precise search for all indexed articles that have that journal article as a source.
Click the zotero button on the first page and it will automatically add the first 50 entries (or so) to your Zotero bibliography. Scroll through the pages in the search results and repeat the process. In about 5 minutes you’ll have the entire journal added to your Zotero database.
Thanks Andrew! By the way, the link to your PPR file does not seem to work.
Thanks Joachim. The link should work now. Let me know if you have any more problems.
Hi, thanks for sharing the BibTex. I’m wondering how can I attach the PDF articles to the Bibtex in Zotero. Is there a quick way rather than attach PDF one by one? Can we automatically download PDF according to the BibTex you provide? Thank you!
