I made a video game! Well, a team of four of us made a video game, and this morning is the official launch!
The game is called “Paper Samurai” and the basic idea is that you are the lone person defending a village from the forces of an evil daimyo. The cool feature is that you control the sword by tilting your phone in different directions — that’s the part I really love about it.
It also has beautiful, original artwork by Raymond Bonilla, a friend and colleague of mine who works in the Visual Arts and New Media Department here at SUNY Fredonia. He’s also the illustrator for the Game of Thrones Card Game and a Gold Medal recipient from the Societ of Illustrators of New York. So, yeah…he’s pretty good.
We’re all really excited about the launch, and I owe the other members of the team a huge debt of gratitude.
Jon Nalewajek (Assistant Developer/Co-founder) and I both owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to Robert Szkutak (the lead programmer). This game would not have been possible without his brilliant programming skills, passionate enthusiasm, and tireless work ethic. The dude is an animal and a machine all rolled into one.
It’s available on the Google Play store. You can download it and start playing it now.
The iPhone and iPad versions are in the works. You can enter your email here if you want us to let you know when the iOS version launches.
I hope you check out the game, and if you think it is novel or noteworthy – it would be awesome if you could help us spread the word about the launch.
