The Bellingham Summer Philosophy Conference is going on right now, and Brian Weatherson is heroically giving us all a live update on Twitter. He’s doing a fine job. I’m able to keep up with the talks and actually have some sense as to how the audience reacted to the speakers.
Even if you don’t have a twitter account, you can check out all the posts related to the Bellingham Summer Philosophy Conference here.
Unfortunately, Weatherson is the only philosopher at BSPC twittering about what’s going on. You get an even better sense of what’s going on in a talk when there are multiple philosophers twittering about it. To get a sense of what it’s like when a whole group of philosophers twitters at a conference, check out the back channel for the Joint Session from last month here.
The practice of live twittering at philosophy conferences is really starting to pick up steam. I’m looking forward to seeing more of it as more philosophers get into the practice.
